16 things about me

Most of my friends probably saw my post of the same name on facebook. I was inspired by one of my favorite blogs to go a little deeper and be more vulnerable. So, here goes...


1. I go into Home Depot and Lowes just for the smell. It reminds me of going to the hardware store with my dad when I was a little girl.

2. I bought myself a pair of red patent leather pumps for Christmas. I wear them everywhere with just about everything (even after Christmas) and call them my ruby red slippers. When I'm anxious or stressed out I actually click my heels together 3 times and say "There's no place like home." It makes me feel better.


3. When I can't take the kids arguing in the car I turn up the radio until it drowns them out and sing at the top of my lungs.

4. I'm learning just how wicked my heart really is and it makes me love Jesus even more.

5. Before I read a magazine I go through and pull out the heavy paper ads so that every page in the magazine feels the same.

6. After I've read a magazine cover to cover I pull out any articles that I want to keep and put them in a three ring binder. I also have a three ring binder just for pictures and words or phrases in ads that strike my fancy.


7. One of my favorite ways to relax is under the big hair dryers at the salon.

8. I like to watch people when they are praying. You know, like at church when everyone is supposed to be closing their eyes and focusing on God, I love to look around and see what's written on their faces.

9. I"ve got control issues about driving in the snow. I have to be the driver, I just can't trust anyone else to drive well in the snow.

10. Even though my brother is married with 2 kids, has built 1.5 houses, and is a leader in his church, I still see him as the 15 year old he was when I left home.


11. I adore my brother and I'm jealous that I am no longer the only girl in his life.

12. I hate to see old family pictures without a family. I have been known to buy big boxes of family photos at antique stores even though I don't know anyone in the pictures.


13. I love to watch COPS and I make up my own words to the theme song because I can't understand what the real lyrics are.

14. I avoid watching the news so that I don't have to hear about police men who have been shot or hurt in any way. ( my husband is a deputy)

15. The AIDS epidemic in Africa makes me angry.

16. I hate the quiet. This year I plan on becoming more comfortable with quiet.
