The kids took us to the playground this morning. It was such a joy to see them enjoying themselves. Eric and I even got in on the fun and took turns riding Cale's bike. My favorite part of the whole trip was watching Ila complete the obstacle course on the 5th grade playground. It's got some pretty serious challenges, but she took them all in stride. I wish I had a picture of her face the first time she did the whole thing without touching the ground. She was so surprised and proud that she had done all on her own. My mommy heart was bursting with pride.
Of course Dante had to try and do it too. He did his best and was proud of himself just for trying. I wonder how often I do that. How often do I take pride in the fact that at least I tried and I did my best. I usually focus on the fact that I failed? I need to learn a lesson from my kids.
I can hear God saying to me, "Lori, do your best and be excited that at least you tried." Maybe I just need to grow a little more to be able to complete the task.
What about you, what did you try this week that you can be excited about, even if you weren't successful at it?
